The presidential election is not due till August next year, but former People's Action Party MP Tan Cheng Bock became the first to declare his intention to contest the polls. Dr Tan, who narrowly lost the 2011 presidential election to President Tony Tan Keng Yam, said at a press conference yesterday that it was not "too long" a time to get ready, and he wanted to do well.
