NEA officers equipped with body-worn cameras

The National Environment Agency (NEA) thanks Ms Catherine Tai Siew Leng for her feedback ("Equip NEA officers with mini cameras"; Forum Online, Jan 31).

NEA has been progressively equipping its officers with body-worn cameras since last year.

These cameras help to deter abusive behaviour by offenders towards our officers, protect our officers against allegations of unprofessional conduct, as well as remind our officers to abide by our operational protocol in the execution of their duties.

All NEA officers are equipped with the necessary knowledge and skills to carry out their enforcement duties and manage challenging field situations they may encounter.

NEA continues to seek the cooperation of members of the public as our officers discharge their duties to uphold public health standards.
