Turkey stops sending troops to Iraq for now

ANKARA • Turkey has halted the deployment of troops to northern Iraq for now, Turkey's foreign ministry said yesterday. However, it will not withdraw those already there, despite Baghdad demanding the withdrawal of soldiers deployed near the city of Mosul.

Govt funding 'won't hurt BBC's independence'

8 TV star lions poisoned in Kenyan reserve

NAIROBI • Eight members of a pride of lions featured in BBC's long-running Big Cat Diary series have been poisoned in Kenya's Masai Mara reserve. Two died after eating a poisoned cow carcass on Saturday night.
