ANKARA • President Tayyip Erdogan said yesterday that Turkey would soon close its border with northern Iraq and shut its air space in response to last week's Kurdish independence referendum.

Mr Erdogan, who held talks in Teheran on Wednesday with Iranian leaders, also said Turkey would decide jointly with Iran and Iraq's central government in Baghdad whether to cut oil exports from Kurdish northern Iraq.

Norway aiming for greener economy

OSLO • Norway will study ways to make its economy greener and reduce dependence on oil and gas reserves that are likely to lose value amid efforts to slow climate change, Environment Minister Vidar Helgesen said yesterday.

A government commission of experts, to be appointed in the coming days, will examine the nation's green competitiveness and ways to insulate western Europe's biggest oil and gas exporter from financial risks linked to climate change.
