Palestinian violence escalates in Israel

JERUSALEM • At least three people were killed and many wounded as a two-week-old upsurge of Palestinian violence in Israel escalated yesterday.

Two assailants using a pistol and knives assaulted 15 bus passengers, killing two Israelis before one attacker was shot dead.

In an ultra-Orthodox Jewish neighbourhood, an assailant drove a car into a bus stop, then used a knife to kill one person and wound eight others.

US paper slams Iran conviction of reporter

WASHINGTON • The Washington Post has slammed the conviction of its Teheran correspondent, Jason Rezaian, for spying and other crimes against Iran's national security as an "outrageous injustice".

Mr Rezaian had been found guilty in secret trials that ended in August .
