Iran threatens to give US 'strong slap in the face'

DUBAI • The United States should expect a "strong slap in the face" if it underestimates Iran's defensive capabilities, a commander of the elite Revolutionary Guards said yesterday, as Teheran concluded war games.

Since taking office last month, US President Donald Trump has pledged to get tough with Iran.

Superbug bacteria an 'alarming' threat to EU

LONDON • Superbug bacteria found in people, animals and food across the European Union pose an "alarming" threat to public and animal health, having evolved to resist widely used antibiotics, disease and safety experts warned yesterday.

A European report said some 25,000 people die from such superbugs in the EU every year.
