Manchester Arena to reopen with show

The Manchester Arena - where a suicide bomber killed 22 people and injured more than 100 following an Ariana Grande concert in May - will officially reopen today, with a benefit show headlined by one of the city's premier exports, Noel Gallagher of Oasis.

The We Are Manchester concert will raise money for a fund that aims to establish a permanent memorial for victims of the May 22 attack.

Tensions high on N. Korean anniversary

Today is the 69th anniversary of the founding of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK), and neighbouring countries are bracing themselves for the country to celebrate in a classic North Korean way: By conducting a test of its nuclear and missile programme. Pyongyang said yesterday that the United States will "pay dearly" after its United Nations Ambassador Nikki Haley said the isolated nation was "begging for war".

Malay Language Month launch

Bulan Bahasa (Malay Language Month) 2017 is being launched today at the Malay Heritage Centre, as the Malay Language Council, Singapore, celebrates the legacy and heritage of Singapore's national language. Malay Language Month, which started in 1988, is an initiative to encourage the Malay community to embrace and master Malay.
