Landmark visit by US carrier to Vietnam

United States aircraft carrier, USS Carl Vinson, will arrive in Vietnam today for a five-day stay, in the first such visit since the end of the Vietnam War, as strategic ties between the former foes grow.

Hanoi, however, has been working to ease Beijing's concerns over the visit and the prospect of broader security cooperation between Hanoi and Washington.


Design festival kicks off

Singapore Design Week (SDW) 2018, one of Asia's premier design festivals, will open today and run till March 18.

In its fifth edition, the SDW showcases Singapore's thought leadership in design, connects design talent and businesses, and engages the community through activities that demonstrate the value of design. The event, which also includes programmes for the whole family, is held at the National Design Centre.


Budget forum for SME heads

Finance Minister Heng Swee Keat will be taking part in a dialogue at the Lianhe Zaobao Singapore Budget 2018 Business Forum today, organised by Lianhe Zaobao, the Chinese flagship newspaper of Singapore Press Holdings. The forum is aimed at the bosses and directors of small and medium-sized enterprises, to help them have a deeper understanding of this year's Budget and its implications on their businesses.
