Second-round of local polls in Nepal

Nepal will hold its second round of local elections today, the first since 1997 and a key step in its rocky road to democracy.

Parties representing the marginalised Madhesi people have already forced several postponements of the local elections, which are supposed to pave the way for provincial polls and then national elections by January, when the mandate of the current Parliament expires.


International arbitration conference

Leading dispute resolution professionals and academics from more than 30 countries are gathering for a conference here today.

The International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) Asia Conference on International Arbitration, now in its third year, seeks to examine the latest arbitration developments impacting the region.

Topics to be discussed will include investment treaties and third-party funding.


Feinmetall unveils digital facility

Local precision engineering firm Feinmetall Singapore will unveil this morning a digital manufacturing facility that taps advanced manufacturing technology solutions available under the Model Factory@SIMTech initiative and Tech Depot. Feinmetall, which specialises in designing and making wafer probe cards for semiconductor wafer tests, will conduct a tour for the media to have a closer look at its digitalised factory floor.
