Queen's Speech to outline govt plans

The British government's plan for the next Parliament will be outlined in the Queen's Speech today, and will include laws needed to deliver Brexit and new immigration legislation. Although the Conservative Party lost its majority in this month's elections, Mrs Theresa May's administration is reportedly confident it has the votes to pass the speech after a debate.


New book on Singapore's foreign policy

The S. Rajaratnam School of International Studies is launching today a book authored by Ambassador-at-Large Bilahari Kausikan. The book, titled Singapore Is Not An Island: Views On Singapore Foreign Policy, is a compilation of his essays and public speeches over the past 25 years.


Malaysia to reveal May inflation rate

Malaysia will announce its inflation rate for May today. Economists polled by Reuters said they expect consumer prices in the country to have risen 4 per cent from a year earlier, slowing for the second month in a row.

In April, Malaysia's inflation was at 4.4 per cent, after an eight-year high of 5.1 per cent in March.
