WASHINGTON (REUTERS) - The United States Senate foreign Relations Committee approved on Tuesday the nomination of US Senator Max Baucus, a Montana Democrat, to be the next US ambassador to China.

The unanimous voice vote cleared the way for a vote on Mr Baucus' confirmation in the US Senate, where he is also expected to win approval.
