SEATTLE, Washington - Losing a pet can be traumatic and distressing, so some companies have created a solution to deal with the loss in the form of pet bereavement days.

For instance, United States-based insurance company Trupanion gives time to grieve. Company spokesman Dani Kahn stated: "We allow people to actually do that grieving process and just, just be able to heal. I think you need closure when you lose a pet, and it's important to have the time to do that".

Other companies give flexible paid time-off that can be used to deal with the death of a pet.
