WASHINGTON (AFP) - The White House is expected to ask Congress for around US$5.9 billion (S$8 billion) in emergency aid in the wake of mega storm Harvey, which left swathes of Texas and Louisiana inundated, a US government official told AFP.

The emergency funding request is expected to come as soon as Friday. President Donald Trump said earlier that his administration was "working on emergency funding."
