Clinton takes on Democratic rivals

Heavyweight White House contender Hillary Clinton faces off against her chief Democratic rival, Senator Bernie Sanders, and three other challengers in the first Democratic debate of the 2016 presidential primaries at 8.30am Singapore time today. Mrs Clinton will take centre stage at the debate, but she is likely to face a tough fight from Mr Sanders, who has cast himself as the anti-billionaire candidate intent on reshaping the economic system.

Higher education conference

Acting Education Minister (Higher Education and Skills) Ong Ye Kung will deliver the opening address at a two-day higher education conference that begins today. He will speak about how Singapore is approaching the dual aims of serving national objectives and meeting individuals' aspirations.

The conference is organised by the Education Ministry and the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development.

Entrepreneur awards gala

Mr Chan Chun Sing, secretary-general of the National Trades Union Congress and Minister in the Prime Minister's Office, will speak at the EY Entrepreneur of the Year 2015 awards gala tonight. The overall winner will represent Singapore at the World Entrepreneur of the Year award in Monte Carlo next year.
