President Donald Trump said the goal is simple: to ensure that the United States can detect and destroy any missile launched against it "anywhere, any time, any place".

He was talking about the country's first Missile Defence Review (MDR) since 2010, which he unveiled on Thursday during a visit to the Pentagon.
