When China posted a list of American imports it intends to levy a 25 per cent duty on come July 6 in re-taliation for US tariffs on Chinese goods, it created a wave of apprehension more than 10,000km away in picturesque coastal Maine.

The reason? Lobsters are on the Chinese list of more than 170 different US seafood products.
