US President Donald Trump makes case for re-election in speech to nation

US President Donald Trump used his third State of the Union address on Tuesday to make the case for his re-election in November, calling his entry into the White House in 2017 as the start of "the great American comeback", while casting his Democratic rivals as socialist dangers to the country's healthcare and conservative values.

His speech - an annual overview of a president's legislative agenda delivered to Congress at the start of the year - was a tour of his greatest hits, from the booming economy to fresh trade deals with Mexico and Canada, as well as China.
