NEW YORK CITY (REUTERS) - A one-year-old girl in a stroller was struck and killed by a pickup truck at a Queens intersection in New York City on Thursday night (March 23).
Police said the girl was strapped in her stroller when she was hit by a pickup truck making a right turn.
The toddler's mother was pushing the stroller across the street when the accident happened.
The toddler was rushed to a nearby hospital, but was pronounced dead upon arrival.
The girl's mother was hurt, but is expected to be okay.
Police said the driver of the pickup truck stayed at the scene and is facing charges.
Witnesses say the driver did not appear to realise what had happened until he stopped and got out of his truck.
