FLORIDA (REUTERS) - Thousands of "zombies" and their bikes hit the streets of Key West, Florida, on Sunday (Oct 22) dressed in their spookiest costumes as part of Fantasy Fest, the first major special event there since Hurricane Irma struck in early September.

Adults, children and dogs all got in on the action, sporting white face paint, "bloodied" clothing, masks and wigs as they cycled along the Atlantic Ocean shore. Some made reference to the hurricane, carrying signs that read "Irma Go Away" and "Fema" (Federal Emergency Management Agency) attached to a skeleton doll.

Around 6,000 people participated in the Zombie Bike Ride, according to the Florida Keys News Bureau.
