Five states held primaries for both Democratic and Republican candidates on Tuesday (March 15). The Northern Mariana Islands also picked a Republican nominee. The key elections are dubbed 'Super Tuesday 2'.

Projected winners as per the exit polls, and later the results for each state, will be updated here on Wednesday (March 16).

A total of 367 Republican and 784 Democratic delegates are up for grabs. That amounts to over 20 per cent of available delegates. Democratic Party delegates will be allocated proportionally. Republican states can now start allocating all delegates to the winner and that will be the case in Florida (99 delegates) and Ohio (66).

The focus will be on Florida and Ohio, not just for the number of delegates but also because they are swing states that could determine the outcome of the general election. Both are winner-takes-all states, which means the victor can start to either pull away from the pack or close in on the leaders. Related story here.
