Singapore, US affirm robust and mutually beneficial partnership

WASHINGTON - Singapore's Minister for Foreign Affairs Vivian Balakrishnan and US National Security Adviser H.R. McMaster affirmed the robust and mutually beneficial partnership between their countries in a meeting on Tuesday (March 21).

Dr Balakrishnan and Lieutenant-General McMaster also exchanged views on regional and international developments, and underscored the importance of Washington's continued commitment to deepening its engagement of the Asia-Pacific region, Singapore's Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) said in a press statement.

Dr Balakrishnan also held meetings with members of the US Congress, including Co-Chair of the Congressional Asean Caucus Representative Ann Wagner (Republican -Missouri) and Senator Dan Sullivan (Republican-Alaska), said the MFA statement.

During the meetings, both sides discussed the excellent state of bilateral relations.

Dr Balakrishnan also welcomed Ms Wagner's efforts to deepen the US engagement of Asean, in light of the 40th anniversary of the Asean-US relations this year, the statement said.

The Singapore minister is visiting Washington from March 21 to 23.
