Sanders rallies Rutgers students as Jersey preps for June vote

US Democratic presidential candidate Bernie Sanders tells a large crowd of his New Jersey supporters at Rutgers University that the most important thing in the campaign is to make sure Republican candidate Donald Trump does not become president.

NEW JERSEY, USA (Reuters) - US Democratic presidential candidate Bernie Sanders rallied some of his base supporters on Sunday (May 8) with a campaign speech at Rutgers University in Piscataway, New Jersey.

Mr Sanders is in a fight for the Democratic nomination with former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton who holds a clear lead in delegates.

The liberal US Senator representing Vermont also reiterated his call that the most important thing in the campaign is to make sure that Republican presumptive candidate Donald Trump does not become president.

New Jersey holds it nominating contest on June 7.
