CALIFORNIA (REUTERS) - Nasa is celebrating a major milestone.

Its Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter (MRO) arrived on the Red Planet 10 years ago.

Over the past decade, the spacecraft revealed details about the planet's makeup, including the possibility of liquid water being present on Mars.

"This mission has helped us appreciate how much Mars - a planet that has changed greatly over time - continues to change today," said MRO Project Scientist Rich Zurek of Nasa's Jet Propulsion Laboratory, Pasadena, California.
