Minister for Foreign Affairs Vivian Balakrishnan to visit Washington and New York

SINGAPORE - Singapore's Minister for Foreign Affairs Vivian Balakrishnan will make a working visit to Washington DC and New York from Sunday (June 4) to Thursday.

During the visit, Dr Balakrishnan will meet senior administration officials, principal figures in the US Senate and House of Representatives, and prominent US strategic thinkers and academics, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement on Saturday.

Dr Balakrishnan will also speak at the American Jewish Committee Global Forum World Leaders' Plenary. In addition, he will host a reception for the inaugural recipients of the US-Singapore Summer Exchange Scholarship and another reception for the Singaporean community living in the Washington DC area. The US-Singapore Summer Exchange Scholarship was announced during Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong's official visit to the US last year.

In New York, Dr Balakrishnan will attend the high-level United Nations Conference to Support the Implementation of Sustainable Development Goal 14, also known as The Ocean Conference, and deliver Singapore's national statement at the event on Thursday.
