WASHINGTON - US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo on Sunday (Jan 10) lifted "self-imposed restrictions" regulating American diplomats, service members, and other officials' interactions with Taiwanese counterparts.

The announcement will not go down well with Beijing, which regards Taiwan as a renegade province and one of its greatest sensitivities.
