ATLANTA (REUTERS) - Firefighters in Atlanta, Georgia battled a major fire on Thursday (March 30) along a stretch of freeway that prompted traffic to shut down in several directions.

Helicopter news video showed fire crews trying to put out the flames along a portion of freeway that collapsed to the ground below about 45 minutes after the fire started, according to local media.

Local media also cited police as saying the blaze was caused by electrical wiring under the freeway that had been burning.

Traffic was reported back up for miles in the area.
