Microwaves can spy on you: Some of the best Twitter burns on Trump aide Conway

The heat has been turned up on top White House aide Kellyanne Conway again, this time for a comment about "microwaves that turn into cameras".

She had been asked in a TV interview on Sunday (March 12) about US President Donald Trump's claim that his predecessor Barack Obama had ordered wiretapping of Trump Tower before the 2016 presidential election.

Said Ms Conway: "There was an article this week that talked about how you can surveil someone through their phones, through their - certainly through their television sets, any number of different ways, and microwaves that turn into cameras, etc., so we know that that is just a fact of modern life."

Ms Conway subsequently clarified that she did not mean to say that President Trump had been surveilled by microwave ovens that were also cameras.

Unfortunately, this came a little too late for a horde of netizens who took to Twitter to post their reactions to the latest "alternative fact" (of modern life) from the White House:
