Fans of celebrity chef Anthony Bourdain, who officials say committed suicide in France on Friday, flocked to the New York restaurant where he was an executive chef to pay tribute to him.

WASHINGTON • The outpouring of grief and sadness over the death of Mr Anthony Bourdain has reverberated as far around the world as the peripatetic chef, author and television star travelled, but his suicide at the age of 61 has struck the food industry particularly hard.

"Anthony was a dear friend," chef and restaurateur Eric Ripert told the New York Times. Mr Ripert, who appeared on several of Mr Bourdain's shows, was the one who found his friend unresponsive in a hotel room in France.
