Hopes for US-China trade deal not high in Washington

Each side underestimating the other, experts warn ahead of Trump-Xi meeting in June

While all eyes are turning to a late June meeting in Japan between US President Donald Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping, there is some pessimism in Washington over whether a deal is possible.

And just as China underestimated the Trump administration, the Trump administration is underestimating China, trade experts warned in Washington.
