Boston police have foiled an alleged shooting plot at the Pokemon World Championships which was held in Boston over the weekend.

Two Iowa men, Kevin Norton, 18, and James Stumbo, 27, allegedly made threats on social media about attacking the event, which was held at the Hynes Convention Center.

The duo were stopped as they attempted to enter the event on Thursday after authorities were notified of the threats, according to a statement released by Boston Police Department.

A search of their vehicle turned up a 12-gauge shotgun, an AR-15 rifle, several hundred rounds of ammunition and a hunting knife, according to the statement.

The suspects were detained at a hotel in Saugus on Friday after arrest warrants were issued, Boston police said.
