It is said that even though former United States vice-president Joe Biden moved to become senator from neighbouring Delaware, he has not forgotten where he is from - Scranton, Pennsylvania, a city of less than 80,000 people, where old steam locomotives are one of its attractions.

Theories are thick on the ground in Washington following Mr Biden's roaring comeback on Super Tuesday - when the greatest number of states held primary elections and caucuses. Super Tuesday delivers around one-third of the total number of delegates a candidate needs to win the nomination at the Democratic National Convention in Milwaukee in July.
