NO TO HANDSHAKE?

Sitting side by side with German Chancellor Angela Merkel in the Oval Office while photographers were snapping away, US President Donald Trump told them to "send a good picture back to Germany, please".

The photographers then shouted "handshake!" and Dr Merkel quietly asked him: "Do you want to have a handshake?"

But there was no response from Mr Trump, who looked ahead with his hands clasped.

COLD BODY LANGUAGE

Dr Merkel frequently leaned towards Mr Trump while he stared straight ahead, sitting with his legs apart and hands together.

WIRETAPPING QUIP "As far as wiretapping... at least we have something in common perhaps," said Mr Trump, who claims Trump Tower was wiretapped by the Obama administration. Dr Merkel in 2013 asked then President Barack Obama for clarification after the German government obtained information that the US may have tapped her cellphone.
