LOS ANGELES • Hollywood star Angelina Jolie has filed for divorce from actor Brad Pitt and is seeking custody of their six children, celebrity news website TMZ reported yesterday.

According to the site, 41-year-old Jolie filed legal documents on Monday citing irreconcilable differences with Pitt, listing their date of separation as Sept 15.

The A-list couple wed in 2014 but have been together since 2004.

According to TMZ, sources connected with the couple said Jolie's decision to file for divorce was in connection with the way Pitt, 52, had been parenting the children.

She was apparently extremely upset with his methods, reported the website. TMZ also asserted that, based on its sources, there was no "third person" involved in the decision, which was solely based on Pitt's interactions with their children.

Jolie has not asked for spousal support, said TMZ. She is being represented in her divorce case by Ms Laura Wasser, who most recently represented another Hollywood A-lister, Johnny Depp, in his divorce from Amber Heard.
