United States President Donald Trump's decision to cut aid to three Central American countries over their failure to stop the flow of migrants towards the US breaks with conventional wisdom that the best way to tackle migration is to attack its root causes. The President has become incensed at the growing number of arrivals at the US border with Mexico asking for asylum.

Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong has convened a new committee to review and strengthen data security practices across the public service. The committee will look into how data is collected and protected, and recommend technical measures and capabilities to improve the Government's response.
