Union says leader shot dead at S. Africa Marikana mine

MARIKANA, South Africa - A South African union said a local leader was shot dead at Lonmin's Marikana mine on Monday, almost a year after police shot dead 34 strikers.

"This (Monday) morning she was fatally shot next to our offices," said National Union of Mineworkers spokesman Lesiba Seshoka.
