Miss South Africa Demi-Leigh Nel-Peters is congratulated by fellow contestants after being crowned Miss Universe at the end of the three-hour special programme on Fox. Contestants from around the world converged in Las Vegas on Sunday, where the 22-year-old edged out her rivals from Colombia and Jamaica to take the crown. Ms Nel-Peters, a graduate in business management, said her half-sister, who has a disability, has been among her great inspirations.
