A resident stands among the broken remains of his house, which was gutted after an overnight fire tore through a slum area in Quezon City, Metro Manila, yesterday.

The blaze left a scene of devastation in its wake. One hundred houses were destroyed in the disaster, causing more than 300 families to become homeless, according to local media reports.
