Police officer, three others stabbed in British mosque attack

LONDON (AFP) - Four men, including a police officer, were in hospital on Sunday after being stabbed during an attack at a mosque in the English city of Birmingham.

Officers were called out to a mosque in the city's Ward End area late on Saturday after reports that three men had been stabbed, said a spokesman for West Midlands Police.

While a suspect was being arrested, one of the officers was himself stabbed, the spokesman added. All four of the victims were in a stable condition in hospital, he said.

Police are holding a 32-year-old man on suspicion of attempted murder.
