WASHINGTON (AFP) - The United States (US) and Russian Presidents Barack Obama and Vladimir Putin discussed on Tuesday how to ensure "a safe and secure Sochi Olympics", the White House said.

Their telephone call came a day after Washington announced it had offered to deploy air and naval assets to the Black Sea resort city during next month's winter games, following recent terror attacks in Russia.
