US Senate supports quick entry for Finland

US senators promised to move quickly to bring Finland into Nato after the country's leaders voiced support for joining the alliance in the face of Russia's invasion of Ukraine. The US Senate approves treaties and must consent to bringing new members into Nato.

But Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan potentially dashed hopes of a quick accession, saying that he does not favour Nato membership for Finland or Sweden.
