Tight security at Peres' funeral

Israel's former president and prime minister Shimon Peres will be laid to rest today .

A major security operation is being put in place for the funeral, which will be attended by leaders from across the world, including United States President Barack Obama and Britain's Prince Charles.


Special day for older people

A week before Singapore celebrates Children's Day, the silver-haired community is being feted as well. Tomorrow marks the International Day of Older Persons. Among the activities lined up is an outing for 800 low-income elderly people from five Thye Hua Kwan senior activity centres, organised by ITE College Central.


Investor association's awards night

Ms Indranee Rajah, Senior Minister of State (Law and Finance) will attend the 17th Investors' Choice Awards dinner presentation ceremony tonight. About 800 guests comprising representatives from regulatory bodies and academia, corporate leaders, senior management of the securities and finance industry, and investors are expected to be present at the Securities Investors Association (Singapore) event.
