The United States Geological survey (USGS) said early on Tuesday that a 5.1 magnitude quake hit near Ksar el Kebir in northern Morocco.
There were no official reports of casualties.
The quake was felt up to 200 km (125 miles) south of the epicenter, including the capital Rabat.
In September 2023, a 6.8 magnitude earthquake, Morocco's deadliest since 1960, killed more than 2,900 people and damaged vital infrastructure south of Marrakech. REUTERS
