Although Israel failed in its attempt to land a spacecraft on the Moon, the mission was considered a tremendous achievement in the country and a step forward for space travel.
The Beresheet (Genesis in Hebrew) robotic lander was the first built by a private organisation to orbit the Moon and if it had landed safely, would have been the first by a private organisation to achieve the feat.
