The people of Lebanon are voting in parliamentary elections tomorrow for the first time after almost a decade of political turmoil.

The hope is that the ballots will not only decide by peaceful means the transfer of power in an Arab country - in itself a rare occasion - but could also contribute to the precarious strategic balance in the Middle East.
