Mandela getting better in hospital, says South African President Zuma

JOHANNESBURG (Reuters) - Former South African President and anti-apartheid leader Nelson Mandela continues to get better in hospital, but is still in a serious condition as he recovers from a lung infection, South African President Jacob Zuma said on Sunday.

"Over the last two days, although he remains serious, his doctors have stated that his improvement has been sustained," Mr Zuma said.

Mr Zuma was addressing a gathering for Youth Day in eMadadeni in the KwaZulu-Natal province in remembrance of the 1976 Soweto youth uprisings against apartheid.
