Jamaica gang leader 'Dog Paw' to serve 30 years in prison

KINGSTON, Jamaica (AP) - The leader of a renowned gang in Jamaica that has been tied to multiple extortions, shootings and murders will serve 15 years in prison.

Christopher "Dog Paw" Linton received 15 years for shooting with intent at police and another 15 for illegal weapon possession. A judge ruled late on Friday that Linton will serve those concurrently.

Linton was arrested in January 2011 and convicted in February. He still faces two other charges, including three counts of murder and one count of shooting at police.

Police said he used to run the Dog Paw gang in northern St Andrew, a parish that lies just west of the capital of Kingston.
