Italy's Berlusconi asks rivals not to expel him from parliament

ROME (AFP) - Italy's former prime minister Silvio Berlusconi on Monday pleaded with his political rivals not to vote to expel him from parliament later this week, saying the decision was "not about me but about democracy".

Mr Berlusconi said fellow senators should not "trample the principles of democracy", warning them against "a decision which would shame you in front of your children, your voters and all Italians".
