French engineer kidnapped in Nigeria in 2012 freed: Hollande

PARIS (Reuters) - A French engineer has been freed almost a year after he was kidnapped in Nigeria, French President Francois Hollande's office said in a statement on Sunday.

Mr Francis Collomp was seized by around 30 gunmen who stormed his compound on Dec 19, 2012 in the remote northern Nigerian town of Rimi, close to the Niger border where Al-Qaeda's North African wing operates.
