France's lower house passes pension reform

PARIS (REUTERS) - France's lower house of parliament passed a reform of the country's indebted pension system on Tuesday that aims to cut its deficit under pressure from Europe.

The Socialist-controlled National Assembly approved the law by 270 votes in favour and 249 against. The bill must still be examined by the Senate but is unlikely to be modified before it enters law books.
