Former Pakistani general arrested in Bosnia

SARAJEVO (AFP) - A former Pakistani general wanted by Islamabad for corruption has been arrested in Bosnia, a court spokeswoman said on Friday.

The state court of Bosnia and Herzegovina has ordered Zahid Ali Akbar Khan to remain in detention until May 23, spokeswoman Asja Papo told AFP.

The 80-year old is wanted by Pakistan for "the crime of corruption", she said, giving no further details.

Mirela Znaor, a Bosnian police official in charge of coordination with Interpol, told AFP the border police had arrested the former general on May 5 on the basis of an "international arrest warrant issued by Islamabad". He was picked up at the border crossing entering Bosnia from Croatia, a police source said.
